Ricard Martí is an artist who could seem to have emerged from the Renaissance. Sensitive and enthusiastic about the arts, painting, drawing, sculpture, music, theater, literature, opera, and cinema occupy a significant part of his time. He juggles teaching duties with his personal artistic world.
Born in Barcelona, he stood out in artistic tasks from a young age. Before attending Fine Arts, he received classes from the painter Josep Barrenechea, who instilled in him a taste for the precision of drawing and proportions. At Fine Arts, he developed a close friendship with the painter Jordi Arcalís and had a special affinity with the professor, and recognized painter, Alberto Carroggio de Molina.
His sensitivity pays homage to a specific type of painting: Velázquez at the forefront, Rembrandt, Sorolla, Sargent, Zorn, Mir, Casas, etc.
Although initially inclined towards the world of exhibitions, he set it aside and dedicated himself to art education at La Farga school in Mira-sol. This allowed him to continue painting what he desired since he didn’t have to make a living solely from his artistic work, although he worked on private commissions, especially portraits.
In the field of education, he was able to engage with another of his passions, theater and scenography, writing, designing, and premiering plays for young people and overseeing the artistic direction of school musicals.
